Welcome 2020
Happy New Year and happy trails to all members, new and returning. By now you should all have received your membership cards and club calendar for 2020, with plenty of walks to keep us busy. If you have joined and haven't received anything, please contact the Club Secretary on 086 2250793 or email roswaywalkers@gmail.com.
The first walk of the year was held on January 1st along the beautiful Flaggy Shore and was also a fundraiser for the Galway Mountain Rescue Team (see pic kindly sent on by Claire). If you wish to make a donation, you have can do so up until the 14th January. Donations will be accepted by any member of the committee.
Gear training for members will take place on Saturday 18th January at 10am in Gullanes. It can be difficult for new members to know what to expect from a Club walk, so we strongly advise them to attend.
The training session usually takes about 45 minutes and our Training Officer Fiona will advise on what gear/equipment is required for walks, and discuss some general walking-related information. In addition, Bríd, our Environmental Officer, will speak on the the Club's environmental policy. Not only is it an important and informative session but it's a good way for new members to meet up and break the ice. Links to gear lists on right hand side of blog page.
